Course
Content
The
8-hour course, which is divided into two 4-hour sessions,
will first take you through the background of how light-sport
aircraft came to be.
Next,
we will provide a general overview of LSA maintenance/inspection
rules and regulations, as compared with type certificated
aircraft.
After
the general overview, we will discuss in detail the specific
FAA regulations and policies pertaining to LSA.
The
next topic will be a detailed review of the ASTM LSA consensus
standards.
Following
that, we'll take a look at typical LSA manufacturers' manuals
for operating, maintaining, and inspecting the aircraft and
show you how to interpret them to assure you and the aircraft
are in compliance with the rules and that the aircraft is
in a condition for safe operation.
Finally,
we'll review some of the unique design features of SLSA airframes,
engines, propellers, and appliances that you may not be familiar
with.
The
goal of the course is for you to become confident in your
knowledge of LSA and ready to add LSA maintenance and inspection
to your service offerings, should you so desire.
The
Course is Conducted Online
One
of the main benefits of the course is that you do not have
to travel to a remote location, thus saving time, gasoline,
airline tickets, hotel, and other travel expenses.
The
course is conducted over the Internet using Webex video and
telephone conferencing, with you sitting at your home or work
computer. You will be able to see and hear the instructor
and follow the presentation via live onscreen video and live
telephone audio.
After
you have registered, you will join the training session at
the apppointed time.
As
the discussion proceeds, you will be able to ask questions
of the instructor and obtain answers. Handouts will be provided
ahead of time summarizing the content and providing a convenient
place for you to take notes.
Depending
on the needs of participants, courses may be scheduled on
a week day, on a Saturday, or split between two consecutive
week nights. Throughout the course, regular short breaks will
be provided. In addition, for courses conducted on a single
day,a one-hour lunch break will be provided.
Course
