This mid-1980s-vintage Phantom X-1 sat outside in a Florida field for a couple of years before being acquired by Mike Huffman in 2007. He registered the Phantom as an ELSA prior to the Januray 2008 deadline and proceeded to completely restored it.

Corrosion was a potential concern, so it was completely disassembled and inspected, inside and out. Fortunately, Phantom Aeronautics built it using all anodized tubing, so corrosion was virtually non-existent.

We installed the following features.

• Rotax 503 with Warp Drive prop
• Wings and tail group covered with Poly-Fiber, including Aerothane polyurethane paint. To maintain better airfoil control, the leading edge was covered with aluminum 18" back from the wing leading edge.
• Grand Rapids Technology 2000 engine information system
• Dune buggy-type fuel tank with Princeton capactive fuel probe

The restoration was completed in July 2009 and the aircraft was certificated as an ELSA.
